Does your SEO change with the times?

If your company has had an Internet presence for quite a while now, you’ll probably remember a time when ranking on search engine results pages, or SERPs, involved the simple activity of building as many inbound links as possible. Once upon a time, that was how search engines operated, equating inbound links as a sign of a webpage’s authority.

It didn’t take long, however, for crafty SEO “specialists” to use this simple system to game their results. Building hundreds, sometimes thousands, of links on blogs and low-value websites, they would rank websites that didn’t provide any useful information on a subject. Search engines took notice, however, and eventually changed their algorithms to make it harder to bypass the system.

Since then, search engines have undergone even more changes in an effort to improve the quality of their results. Google, for example, went through 83 different iterations of its search engine since 2011.

This evolution—which continues to be an ongoing process—of the search engines means that SEO experts need to adapt to change in order to provide their clients with the best results. Doing otherwise can have either nil or negative consequences.

Does your SEO change with the times? If not, then it’s time you worked with a Baton Rouge SEO company that understands the importance of change and regularly updating its strategies to fit the way that SERPs are changing.
